If you’re sitting somewhere around level 100 to 150 in Elden Ring, you’re probably in that awkward phase where regular enemies feel a bit too weak to give decent runes, but late-game bosses still hit like freight trains. At this point, most players start looking for reliable farming spots to help push their builds into the next power spike. After finishing several runs myself and testing a bunch of locations, there’s one spot that consistently stands out for fast leveling without too much stress.

Below is a breakdown of why this area works so well, how to get the most out of it, plus a few personal tips I’ve picked up after way too many hours running the same route.

Why the Palace Approach Ledge Road Is Still King

The Palace Approach Ledge Road in Mohgwyn Palace remains the most popular farming area for mid-to-late game players. Its convenience is a huge part of the appeal. You warp to the site of grace, sprint forward a few steps, and suddenly you’re surrounded by a bunch of Albinaurics who basically line up to be knocked over. They give a lot of runes per kill for very little risk, which makes them perfect for consistent farming sessions.

What makes this spot shine around level 100–150 is that your build is usually mature enough to one-shot or quickly stagger these enemies. Even a mid-range weapon upgraded to around +18 or above will shred them. If you’re running a strength build, a simple jump attack can delete entire groups before they have a chance to react. For mages, a basic area spell gets the job done just as fast.

For players who don’t have a lot of time to grind, this route is great because you can get a solid haul in just five or ten minutes. I’ve had sessions where I jumped in for a quick run and walked away with enough runes to boost a couple of attributes, and that always feels satisfying.

Some players who want to speed up the process even more sometimes look for ways to buy elden ring runes, but honestly, this spot alone already gives you a reliable and legit way to farm without much setup.

Getting the Most Out of Each Run

Once you’ve unlocked the area, there are a few tricks that can make your runs even smoother. First, if you have the Gold Scarab talisman, make sure it's equipped. It gives a noticeable rune boost, and it stacks with the Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot. I don’t always use consumables because I save them for longer sessions, but during double-drop weeks or when I’m setting a leveling goal, they’re worth popping.

Second, movement matters. The enemies here don’t hit hard, but they hit fast. Try to stay just outside their aggro range, pick them off in groups, and avoid getting stuck between two crowds. Even at high level, getting comboed by three Albinaurics feels embarrassing, and it wastes time you could’ve spent farming.

If you’re using ranged spells or bows, make sure you aim high ground to low, so you don’t accidentally tag something in the distance that pulls extra mobs. For melee players, wide-swinging weapons like curved greatswords, colossal swords, or even a plain greatsword are perfect for clearing these clusters quickly.

A lot of players also mention U4GM when talking about rune progression, especially if they’re discussing different methods or services, but personally I think farming here is more efficient and satisfying once you get into the rhythm.

Another Option: Bird Sniping for Passive Farming

If slicing through mobs isn’t your thing, there’s another famous method in the same area. From the Palace Approach Ledge Road grace, look across the canyon. You’ll see a giant bird pacing around. If you hit it with an arrow or spell, it’ll charge toward you, fall off the cliff, and instantly die, giving you a big chunk of runes. It’s slower than clearing mobs manually, but it's almost zero risk.

This method is great if you’re multitasking or just chilling. I sometimes use it when I’m catching up on videos or chatting with friends. One quick shot, wait a few seconds, reset, and repeat. Simple.

On console communities, especially among players on Microsoft’s platform, some people occasionally talk about ways to buy elden ring runes xbox, but bird sniping is honestly so easy and low-effort that you probably won’t need anything extra if you stick with it for a while.

When to Move On From This Spot

Although the Palace Approach area is amazing for the 100–150 range, there comes a point where your rune requirements grow so high that this spot starts feeling slower. Once you’re around level 180 or beyond, you may want to transition into boss runs or late-game rune exploits that scale better with your damage output.

Still, for most builds, especially those meant for PvP or New Game Plus prep, milking this place before you move on is totally worth it. The learning curve is low, the enemies are predictable, and the respawn cycle is fast.

Here are a few small things that make a surprising difference in long farming sessions:

Keep your weapon buffed. Even small boosts help one-shot consistency.

Turn down your game audio if the repetitive battle sounds start driving you crazy.

Set clear goals, like leveling three times before taking a break. It keeps your motivation up.

Try different routes to see what feels best. Even tiny changes can make a run faster.

For players who enjoy experimenting with builds or prepping for tougher late-game content, this spot is a lifesaver. It’s efficient, easy to reach, and still one of the fastest rune farms in the whole game at this level range.

If you stick with it and refine your rhythm, you’ll hit your leveling goals before you know it. Enjoy the grind, and may your next boss fight feel just a little bit easier.
